Gale force winds and rain

Well yesterday was intense. There was a weather warning out the whole day for gale force winds. I don’t know if they were gale force but they blew down a lot of tree branches, twigs, leaves and what not. They also blew down my vegetable net and broke some of the connectors. So I had to quickly salvage what was left and flatten it all down so it didn’t blow away! I just hope that my tomatoes and other things survive the battering they got all day yesterday and all of last night! Only time will tell.

Naturally due to the wind, I didn’t sleep a wink (I don’t like wind at night) and on top of that, when I did doze off, I was having mini-nightmares about getting the car stuck in the mud, or the splashes from the puddles cracking my hot engine block and all sorts of things.

We had 20mm of rain yesterday which bumps up this month’s total to over 100mm. That’s 1/5th of our annual total. In a month. Crazy stuff. I think that this drought we’ve been stuck in may be coming to an end. We’ll just have to see how much of the run off makes it into the dams.

Other than the excitement caused by the weather, yesterday was a fairly average day. The Boss only came in 3 times, all for work related stuff.  Today I will finally get to start the work that I was meant to have started last week, but couldn’t. Bonus of this work is it ties up my computer for everything but the process that is running and the internet so I can browse my blog-friends today without feeling the slightest bit guilty.

I did manage to sort out the insurance for replacing my car’s wind shield. It got hit with a stone on Saturday-a huge stone-which cracked the window. If it had just been a chip I would’ve taken it to be fixed. But it’s cracked so it needs to be replaced. So I had a looooong chat to the insurance people who wanted to know every tiny thing about me. BUT it’s sorted out and hopefully the replacement will arrive on Wednesday and I won’t have to peer around the shiny crack in my window any more. Because of course, it’s right at eye-level.

Tonight I have dinner with the Girls, though I have to admit that I haven’t organised anything. Something will fall into place I am sure! J made his mince for dinner last night, and I sat and watched NCIS. Love that show!  Without further ado, I’m off to do some work
